I guess if I wanted to sum it all up; Along with our incredible Beauty, we have Substance and Quality of Life. It's no wonder that a recession can't stop people from attaining their little piece of our utopia! Whether it is for year round living, 2nd home or Recreational Getaway!
It's worth a visit. You'll be hooked. We came for a visit, from Newport Beach California, about 20 years ago and could never get it out of our hearts. We just had to move here! And we did!

please, no more pretensious californians! Destroyed their own area, now they come up here to impose the same crap as down there. Next they'll bring the damm illegals they can't seem to live without. Stay out except to visit.
Most of my family were born and raised in Montana and Northern Idaho, including my father (1927). Most are sill here in the Northwest. Some left but nearly all returned. My Father left Montana to Serve His Country. His military service took him all over the world and the United States of America. As a result I grew up in many different places around the United States, including Southern California. It was a real blessing for all of us to finally be able to move back to the Great Northwest nearly 20 years ago.
My family actually homesteaded Garfield County, Montana around 100 years ago (1907+/-). It wasn't called Garfield County back then. At that time the people brave enough to homestead Northern Montana and North Idaho were mostly from other countries; Irish, Scotch, English, French, German, Danish, etc. It is wonderful that we have such a diverse heritage and that those that were brave enough opened these territories for us to enjoy, protect and raise our children. Being fully involved in our communities, cities and counties will help preserve what we hold so dear. We all need to be willing to take the time to be involved.

These shots are fantastic. It's the kind of country that really speaks to my heart. My Mom is getting to make her first trip west to Northern Idaho and Montana. She's 84! I hope I don't have to wait that long.

Hi Pam, Another great post. I often see many posts on ActiveRain where the spacing for the photos are a bit too close to the words. If it is OK with you I can tell you an easy fix this and you may really like how the posts look after. Go back into your post and go to edit mode. Click on the photo and then the photo icon on the task bar. You will see the word Appearance at the top. Click on that
Try setting your photo position right, left etc. as you prefer, and then set the numbers for spacing as follows. Use 9 in the Vertical , 9 in the Horizontal space and usualy 0 in the border ,unless of course you want one,lol.
Try that and see if you like the outcome.

YES, YES, YES.... your help is greatly appreciate. I did play with that Appearance thing. I got so frustrated I quit. Some photos it would let the words wrap.... some not. Some photos would stay where I instructed (right, left, center, etc) and some not.
You have inspired me so I'll go in and try it again using your 9 and 9 and 0 suggestion.

Hi Pam, I 'll check and this and see If I can discover the problem.
What I tried was not the solution Pam, I was thinking because you added borders it took away the same amount of space vertically and horizontally, I tried it and this is not the answer. You have me stumped. Go back to edit and click on a photo. Click on the picture icon again, click on appearance and tell me what it says. What is each of the choices from the beginning?
example, lets set it to align left. It then shows the photo pixel size, the aspect ratio box should be checked, the next line would be Verical set to 9, Then Hoizontal set to 9, border set however you want and then the style. This is code for all the previous choices you made.
